Anil Kapoor has never been shy of admitting that even after decades in the industry, the toughest calls are often the simplest on paper. The veteran actor has now revealed that he was approached for a cameo in Aditya Dhar’s action spy sequel Dhurandhar 2, but had to step away because his calendar was already locked.
The moment lands as one of those rare behind the scenes insights fans love, not because it hints at any controversy, but because it underlines how seriously Kapoor still treats professional commitments, even when the offer is tempting and the project is a major franchise.
The Latest Update
Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Anil Kapoor confirmed that Aditya Dhar personally reached out to him for a small appearance in Dhurandhar 2. Kapoor said, “Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important, only talent cannot make you what you are.”
He went on to explain why he declined, pointing to an existing commitment that he did not want to break. “At that time, I had already committed those dates to another filmmaker. I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay.”
Kapoor also added, “So yes, he did offer me the role, and hopefully we will work together in the future.” And when asked if he would sign on for Dhurandhar 3, the actor kept it candid: “I think I will do something new. Kuch naya karunga (I will do something new).”
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is set for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The film follows the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar, which released in December 2025. The franchise is led by Ranveer Singh, and the first film featured an ensemble including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.
