The buzz surrounding Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand’s much-discussed actioner King continues to build momentum. In a big casting development, Anil Kapoor has officially joined the film when he came onboard with SRK as his mentor, which will see Kapoor and Anand work together again after Fighter. Sources reveal that the Jugg Jugg Jeeyo star was brought in as SRK’s mentor, who will play a key role as SRK’s handler, giving a tonne of gravitas to the sleek-yet-raw action drama.
“There were a lot of different actors considered for the part, but the entire team just felt Anil Kapoor was the right fit,” said the source. “Anil brings experience, presence and an edge that all work around Shah Rukh Khan‘s character arc.”
Shah Rukh Khan as Assassin. Deepika Padukone as Love Interest. Anil Kapoor as the Voice of Command.
The film that sees Siddharth Anand back with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone post-Pathaan is envisioned as a level action drama embodied as a “theatrical-first” conception for worldwide audiences. While SRK will portray a brutal-yet-rooted assassin, Deepika is opposite him, playing the love interest, which is thematic in giving some emotionally engaging context to the action-focused, high-octane paradigm.
The movie also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma. In short, they are a great cast that blends legacy and new-age charisma.

Shoot Marks May 20, Will Then Head Internationally
King is in closing pre-production, and several of the set pieces are being built around Mumbai and should be shot between May 18-20; that schedule is domestically based, and thereafter, they will head on an international schedule to Europe. The film will shoot over the course of approximately 100 days and anticipates a release between October and December 2026.
The film is being scored by music duo Sachin-Jigar, whilst Anirudh is composing the background score and has promised King will bring a high-adrenaline soundscape to the visuals and matches Anand with his common visual style.
King-Sized Expectations, King-Sized Team
King with Siddharth Anand is going to be pushing the envelope much like Pathaan and Fighter. Anand is known for stylised action whilst layering the narrative with emotion, and when you add Shah Rukh Khan’s performance, we will see a never-before-seen King: gritty, grounded, and a killer thriller.
The excitement only grows with Anil Kapoor’s involvement. Anil brought a commanding mentor and lead role alongside Hrithik in Fighter, and it will be very interesting to see how he comes in with a similar authority but will have a stronger personal motive and overlapping motivation.
BoxOfficeWorldwide Verdict:
With SRK in his darkest role to date, the senior Anil Kapoor bringing the seniority punch, and Siddharth Anand developing the canvas, King appears to be Bollywood’s next global-action extravaganza. SRK-Anil is the surprise twist December 2026 didn’t see coming – and it will explode on screen.
