The iconic 2001 political thriller ‘Nayak‘ is set to receive a sequel, with producer Siddharth Anand and director Milan Luthria at the helm. The original film, which starred Anil Kapoor and became a massive hit, has maintained a cult status over the years. Fans of the vigilante drama can now look forward to ‘Nayak 2‘, an action-packed entertainer that promises to elevate the legacy of the original.
Siddharth Anand, known for his recent blockbuster ‘Pathaan‘, and Milan Luthria, the creative force behind hits like ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai‘ and ‘The Dirty Picture’, are joining forces to bring this project to life. The sequel is being produced under the banner of Marflix Pictures, co-founded by Siddharth and Mamta Anand.

“Nayak 2 will be a big-scale commercial entertainer set against the backdrop of politics,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla. “The makers have cracked a plot that organically leads itself towards a Nayak sequel and has a strong undercurrent of being a vigilante flick.”
As the anticipation builds, the industry is abuzz with speculation on who will step into the shoes of the protagonist, a role that Anil Kapoor immortalized with his performance. With ‘Nayak 2′, Anand and Luthria are set to explore the complex world of politics and vigilante justice, promising a cinematic experience that resonates with the original while charting new territories.
Milan Luthria and Rajat Arora reunite for Nayak 2
The film is penned by Rajat Arora, marking a reunion with Luthria after their previous successful collaborations. The casting is currently underway, with a top A-lister expected to lead the charge.
“Siddarth Anand has got back the writer-director Jodi of Milan and Rajat together for Nayak 2 and he is excited to embark on the journey of making a one of its kind vigilante-based action entertainer. All the action sequences aside, Nayak 2 is a dialogue and drama-heavy too film and the casting is underway. A top A-Lister is expected to come on board the film,” the source added.
Marflix is now gearing up to roll with multiple films including Jewel Thief starring Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, King fronted by Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, and Rambo with Tiger Shroff among others.
