Filmmakers Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) recently shared a lively and humorous conversation that had fans buzzing. The duo discussed filmmaking, and their inspirations, and even joked about matching the epic scale of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga Admits He Can’t Outdo Baahubali
RGV kicked things off by challenging the Animal director with a bold question: “Can you make a film like Baahubali?” Vanga hesitated before responding with a diplomatic, “I’ll try, sir. Maybe in the future.”
Unimpressed with the cautious reply, Varma pressed him further, demanding a straightforward “yes” or “no.” Finally, Vanga admitted with a grin, “My immediate answer is a no.”
The grilling didn’t stop there. RGV followed up with, “Can you make a better film than Baahubali?” Once again, Vanga stuck to his “I’ll try” response, which prompted Varma to laugh and shake his hand, declaring, “No trying. The answer has come. Superb.”
The light-hearted conversation was laced with mutual admiration. RGV praised Animal. Vanga recently received a Best Editing award for the film. Vanga credited RGV as one of his ‘inspirations’ in filmmaking.
RGV’s Another Difficult Question For Animal Director
During the chat, RGV posed another fun hypothetical: if his cult classic Shiva was released on the same day as Arjun Reddy, which would dominate the box office?
Vanga diplomatically chose Shiva, prompting Varma to accuse him of being too modest. Vanga then jokingly asked RGV to create another masterpiece. He said, “Make a film so great that people just say, ‘RGV is RGV,’ not even ‘RGV is back.’”
Looking ahead, Vanga is set to direct Spirit, a Telugu film starring Prabhas, marking his next big project after the success of Animal. Meanwhile, RGV’s most recent release was Vyuham, which hit theatres earlier this year.
