About The 1999 Aircraft Hijack

The real-life hijacking involved an Indian aircraft, IC 814, which was taken over by five militants from the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM). The aircraft was forced to land in multiple locations before reaching Kandahar. The event had a profound impact on India’s approach to terrorism and remains a significant moment in recent history.

Interestingly, Vishal Bhardwaj had planned a series on the Kandahar hijack but shelved it after controversies surrounding Prime Video India’s 2021 series Tandav.
