Shantanu Maheshwari is back in the spotlight with his latest film, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. In this romantic thriller, he plays the younger version of Ajay Devgn’s character. This collaboration marks their second project together, though they haven’t yet shared screen time.
Previously, Shantanu and Ajay worked on Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, they didn’t share scenes in that film. Speaking to Pinkvilla, Shantanu expressed his admiration for Ajay, noting a special connection he feels with the actor.

“I feel there is some karmic connection I have with Ajay sir,” Shantanu shared. “He was the one to hand me the Khatron Ke Khiladi trophy when I won the show. His presence in Gangubai, and now me playing the younger version of him in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. I mean kuch toh connection hai!”
For context, Shantanu won the 2017 season of Khatron Ke Khiladi (Pain in Spain). Reflecting on Ajay Devgn’s career, Shantanu praised his versatility and impact. “I honestly think that he is one of the few superstars in our industry who has been versatile with his choices of projects. It brings credibility to all his films. I really admire his choice of work. To be associated with him is truly an honour,” he said.
In Gangubai Kathiawadi, Shantanu played Afshaan Razaq, a role that showcased his acting skills. The film, led by Alia Bhatt and featuring Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, and Jim Sarbh, was a critical and commercial success, winning five National Awards.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Than Opens With Poor Response At The BO
In Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Shantanu joins Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Jimmy Sheirgill, and Saiee Manjrekar. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film has had a lukewarm reception and a slow start at the box office.
Reviews have been underwhelming, with criticisms focused on its slow pace and lacklustre execution. Despite strong performances from Ajay Devgn and Tabu, the film has yet to make a significant impact.
