James Caneron directed Avatar rerelease collected $3.5M from 37 international box office markets. It has the sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, set to release on December 16, 2022. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang from the first film, and new faces like Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh.
It was first released in 2009 and performed well at box office records worldwide. Since then, it is receiving a third run at the box office. According to reports, In India, it sold tickets worth ₹1 crore in advance bookings alone, sold 77,559 tickets in advance sales, with a grossing figure of ₹1.04 crore.
Australia, where the film began at No. 3 on Thursday, had a $400K opening day, 36% more of the 2012 Titanic reissue. On Thursday, Disney started overseas commencement on the remastered rerelease of Avatar in five early markets with the Na’vi seeing a collective $877K gross. The 4K high dynamic range version was No. 1 in France at $513K, with 8% ahead in regards to the 3D rerelease of Titanic in 2012.
In India, film got major push due to National Cinema Day and collected 1.80 cr nett. Day two drop was expected and film added 85 lac nett. Film should do decent business and cross 6-7 cr nett in re run if not more.
