Ayushmann Khurrana had dream run in pre pandemic era with strings of sleeper hits one after another – Dreamgirl, Bala, Shubh Mangal Saavdhanam & it’s sequel. But then lockdown happened and so did lockdown of fate at box office for actor.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was well made film but it didn’t work at all and to be fair, it was right after lockdown so many thought that’s as anomaly. Then came Anek where Ayushmann collaborated again with Anubhav Sinha who gave him acclaimed hit Article 15 and again this one flopped without trace.
Last month Doctor G released which was right in the alley of Ayushmann brand of cinema – quirky yet uncomfortable subject. Despite decent cast film flopped and managed under 30 cr nett lifetime.

Doctor G : 26.45 cr nett
Now his next is An Action Hero set to release on 2nd December and this one is produced by Anand L Rai. Film might get postponed as still no teaser or promotion material is out from the makers despite 25 days remaining for release.
But whether postponement will help is the big question as ideally this film should go direct to digital like Kartik saved his blues by pushing Freddie direct to ott.
Let’s hope Ayushmann will get his magic back and box office will smile at him again as his line up seems good with Dream Girl 2.
