Ayushmann Khurrana has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood. His films belong to a different genre that is set in a small town and often tackles taboo subject matters. But the quirkiness and charm of these films have made them super successful. One of the most successful films of his entire career has to be the 2019 comedy-drama film Dream Girl.
The film earned 142.26 cr at the box office and now its makers are working on its sequel titled Dream Girl 2. Ever since the announcement was done, the film has created a strong buzz on the internet. Some promos were released earlier this year that were well received. But now it has been reported that the team went on a quick 12-day-long reshoot. Both the film’s director Raaj Shaandilyaa and producer Ekta Kapoor saw the first cut and realized that some scenes lacked impact and there was room for improvement.
The team quickly contacted Ayushmann and they came on board to reshoot. The schedule lasted for 12 days in July. The reshoot was completed on Saturday, July 15, at Mumbai’s Madh Island. While the general public is unaware, reshoots are quite common in the industry. Last year, the second season of Netflix’s Delhi Crime was reshot.

Dream Girl 2 is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under their Balaji Motion Pictures banner. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, and Seema Pahwa. Despite the reshoot, the film will release on its scheduled date of 25 August.

Ayushmann’s Upcoming Projects
Ayushmann had several releases last year. He was seen in Anubhav Sinha’s Anek, played a male gyno in Doctor G, and a self-obsessed superstar in An Action Hero. While all these films were well-received critically, they failed to create an impact at the box office. So a lot is riding on Dream Girl 2. Since its a part of the franchise, people are expected to flock to the theatres to watch it.
