Karan Johar, the director of the iconic romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, made his debut with the film. On October 16, 2023, the film will complete 25 years of its release, and to mark the occasion, him with the music company Sony music have collaborated with singer B Praak to launch a new version of the iconic song from the film ‘Tujhe Yaad Na Meri’.
The song, which was originally sung by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik and Manpreet Akhtar, was composed by Jatin-Lalit and written by Sameer. It was picturized on Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, who played the lead roles in the film. The song expressed the unrequited love of Anjali (Kajol) for her best friend Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), who married Tina (Rani Mukerji) in a heart-wrenching love triangle.
B Praak on recreating ‘Tujhe yaad na meri aayi’ from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’
B Praak, the singer and composer who has given hits like ‘Teri Mitti’, ‘Mann Bharrya’ and ‘Baarish Ki Jaaye’, is all set to recreate one of the most popular heartbreak songs of Bollywood, ‘Tujhe yaad na meri aayi’ from the 1998 blockbuster ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
Praak shared the post with the caption, “They say “If you dream with all your heart , the dream starts manifesting and they do come true I am thrilled to announce that I got the HONOUR to sing for one and only @iamsrk , sir And @kajol #ranimukherjee i hope you like Our efforts My only dream to sing and recreate this magical song in our style.”
He also revealed that he had requested Karan to remix the track. “Thank you @karanjohar for accepting my request And Trusting us That We Can Do Justice To Your Magical Song!!!The Best No 1 lyricist @jaani777 You Killed It. And Biggest Thanks To @azeemdayani For Always Supporting Our Efforts,” he wrote, hinting that there will be a few changes to the song.
As soon as the announcement was shared on social media, likes and comments poured in from all sides. While one user wrote, ‘This is gonna bring back so many memories!’, another one added, ‘We did not need this!’ A fan also commented, ‘Nothing can beat the original, but B Praak’s voice for tujhe yaad will be something to look forward to’.
B Praak is known for his soulful voice and emotional renditions of songs. He has also composed music for several Punjabi and Hindi films, such as ‘Qismat’, ‘Kesari’, ‘Good Newwz’ and ‘Bala’. He has won several awards for his work, including a National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards. He is also a frequent collaborator with lyricist Jaani, who has penned some of his most popular songs.
