Aamir Khan has opened up about the box office failure of his son Junaid Khan’s debut film Loveyapa. The romantic comedy, also starring Khushi Kapoor, was released on February 7 2025 but failed to impress audiences.
In an interview with ABP News, Aamir shared his disappointment and spoke about his emotions as a father.
Aamir Khan Says Loveyapa’s Failure Was Hard To Accept
Aamir admitted that the film’s poor performance was hard to accept. “Nahi chali woh film, unfortunately. Toh mujhe uska bhi bada dukh hai (That film did not work. So I’m very sad about it),” he said. However, he praised Junaid’s acting and said he genuinely liked the film.
The 3 Idiots actor revealed that Loveyapa made him more anxious than any of his own films. He recalled sitting by a window weeks before the release, feeling unusually stressed.
“Main dur se dekh raha hun lekin mera dil dhadak raha hai (I am watching from a distance, but my heart is beating fast),” he admitted. He called it a father’s emotion rather than that of an actor or filmmaker.
On Junaid’s Next Film With Sai Pallavi
Junaid is already working on his next project. Aamir confirmed that his son has completed a romantic film under Aamir Khan Productions with Sai Pallavi.
He shared that the film is expected to release in late 2025, likely in November or December. “I think this is a field where you have to face success and failure,” Aamir said.
Aamir Khan: Upcoming Projects
Aamir is currently working on Sitaare Zameen Par, where he reunites with Darsheel Safary. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film is a remake of the Spanish movie Champions and is set for a December 2025 release.
