Himesh Reshammiya’s upcoming movie Badass Ravi Kumar has already earned back its Rs. 20 crore production budget before it even hits the theatres. This has been made possible by smart financial moves, including profits from music rights and subsidies from Oman, where part of the film was shot.
Badass Ravi Kumar Recovers Its Production Cost Before Release Itself
The movie’s music rights have been a major source of income, bringing in Rs. 16 crore from the soundtrack, background score, dialogues, and music rights.
The film also received a Rs. 4 crore subsidy from Oman, which helped cover the production costs. With these earnings, the production budget is fully recovered. The marketing costs, which are estimated at Rs. 4 crore, are expected to be covered through sales of the film’s digital, satellite, and theatrical rights.

Set in the 1980s, the film takes inspiration from directors like Feroz Khan and Rajiv Rai, promising a nostalgic feel with its tagline “80s type ki picture.” Even though the film has a grand look, it was produced with careful planning to avoid overspending. Himesh and his team spent over a year ensuring there was no wastage during production.
Himesh plays the lead role in Badass Ravi Kumar. also composed and sang the film’s music under his label, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies. Instead of taking his usual fee, he opted for a profit-sharing deal. The film features 16 tracks, including a 7-song medley, which is sure to boost its commercial appeal.

Himesh explained his approach, saying, “I am on a profit-sharing deal in this film and haven’t charged for my music, which includes composing 16 songs and my singing and acting. Due to our years of experience in producing mega serials and big-budget films, we have meticulously planned this movie for over a year. There’s no wastage, and yet, it looks like a grand project.”
He added, “With grand locations, subsidies from Oman, and 16 amazing songs, the production cost has been fully recovered, and we are expecting great profits from digital, satellite, and theatrical rights. I’m very happy with the final product and hoping for the best.”
The motion poster was dropped recently and the trailer is set to release on January 5. On the other hand, the full film will hit theatres on February 7.
