After Hera Pheri 3 And Welcome To The Jungle, Another Akshay Kumar Film Faces Hurdles As Bhagham Bhag 2 Postponed To August 2026 After Legal Issues

Akshay Kumar’s comedy calendar, already crowded with big franchise titles, has hit another speed breaker as Bhagam Bhag 2 runs into a legal snag that has pushed the film’s timeline further. Coming at a time when multiple Akshay led sequels are in various stages of sorting schedules, production logistics, and rights issues, the latest development adds fresh uncertainty around when the next round of chaos comedy will actually roll.

What makes the pause more significant is that Bhagam Bhag 2 was being positioned as a major reunion style entertainer, built on the recall value of the 2006 Priyadarshan hit Bhagam Bhag, which starred Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Paresh Rawal, and remains a popular staple in the genre.

Latest Update On Bhagam Bhag 2

Bhagam Bhag had been stalled at the moment owing to a legal battle between Ekta Kapoor and director Raaj Shandilyaa. While a PR website clarified that the film is on schedule to go on floors, we have exclusive insight into the same.

Reliable sources confirm that the shooting for Bhagam Bhag 2 has been delayed to August 2026. “Bhagam Bhag 2 was set to begin in March in India, but the shoot schedule got stalled due to the legal battle between Ekta Kapoor and Raaj Shaandilyaa. The actor’s dates went haywire, and the next window for everyone to reunite is in August. The team is working to reschedule the shoot in the second half of the year, and hopes that all legal issues are sorted by then,” a source shared.

The source also informed that the team might shoot for a week or so in the middle if the dates align with Akshay Kumar, but all the combination sequences, which were planned from March to April, are pushed to August now. “Akshay has all his dates blocked for now, but if a window opens, he might give some days to team Bhagam Bhag 2.”

The project has been postponed to August 2026 after a legal tussle connected to the film’s production side. Director Raaj Shaandilyaa has publicly pushed back on the idea that the legal issue has stalled the shoot, saying it will not affect filming and adding that if the matter reaches court, he would respond through legal procedure.

The delay chatter has also been linked to a dispute involving Ekta Kapoor and Raaj Shaandilyaa, which is at the centre of why the schedule was believed to be reworked. As of March 2026, there has been no official release date announcement from the makers, but the postponement to August 2026 has emerged as the key shift being discussed around the film.

He will finish Anees Bazmee’s next, Golmaal 5 and another comedy before Bhagam Bhag 2 now.

Akshay Kumar’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Akshay has continued to stack franchise films alongside new commercial bets. On the release front, he headlined Housefull 5 (2025), which later moved to streaming on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run. He is also attached to Welcome To The Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan, which has a confirmed theatrical release date of June 26, 2026. Ahmed Khan previously explained that schedule reshuffles were driven by the challenge of coordinating dates for a massive ensemble cast, and by location disruptions that forced the unit to replan.

On the franchise side, Hera Pheri 3 has also seen legal noise, including the well publicised dispute around Paresh Rawal’s temporary exit, which was later resolved. Rawal said on a podcast, “There’s no controversy… It is all resolved now,” confirming he was back on the film.

With Bhagam Bhag 2 now pushed to August 2026, Akshay’s comedy heavy slate remains ambitious, but increasingly dependent on legal clearances and tightly managed timelines.
