Lakshya Lalwani May Exit Dostana 2 After Fresh Delays, Vikrant Massey Still Attached

Just when things seemed to be inching forward for Dostana 2, the long-in-the-works sequel is back in the headlines for a reason the industry has heard before, delays and shifting cast equations. As of March 9, 2026, the latest chatter suggests that Lakshya Lalwani, who stayed associated with the project through earlier upheavals, may now be stepping away.

The development is significant because Dostana 2 has already gone through a high-profile reset since its first announcement, and Dharma Productions’ sequel continues to remain one of the banner’s most talked-about titles, precisely because of how often its status has changed over the years.

The Latest Update

A recent report has claimed that due to fresh delays, Lakshya Lalwani could exit Dostana 2. The same report states that Vikrant Massey is expected to continue to be associated with the film, even if the rest of the casting sees changes.

A source was quoted as saying, “Dostana 2 is happening for sure but the cast isn’t locked as of now.” As of now, there has been no official confirmation on whether Lakshya has formally exited the film.

Vikrant, meanwhile, has already publicly acknowledged that he is part of the project. In an interaction, he said, “I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie. You will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan sir will make sure that I wear good clothes and those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe.” He did not reveal who the female lead would be.

Where Dostana 2 Currently Stands

Dostana 2 is backed by Dharma Productions and is set to be directed by Collin D’Cunha. The film was originally announced with Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor, but in 2021, Dharma confirmed the film would be recast due to “professional circumstances,” after which Kartik exited. Since then, the project has remained in development, with intermittent updates but no confirmed shoot timeline announced by the makers.

Lakshya Lalwani’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Lakshya made a strong impression in Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s action thriller Kill (2024), produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, co-starring Raghav Juyal, Ashish Vidyarthi and Tanya Maniktala. He followed it up with the Netflix series The Ba*ds of Bollywood (2025), directed by Aryan Khan.

On the film front ahead, Lakshya is also attached to Chand Mera Dil, co-starring Ananya Panday, which is in the pipeline. With momentum building post Kill and his OTT outing, his next confirmed choices are being watched closely, making any potential shift away from Dostana 2 all the more noteworthy.
