One of the biggest highlights of the new Diwali release, Thamma, is the special appearance by Bhediya, played by Varun Dhawan. After his popular cameos in Stree 2 and Munjya, Bhediya has become a huge crowd favourite. His entry in Thamma is also getting a massive reception from the audience.
In an exclusive interview, Amar Kaushik, the producer and main man behind the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, opened up about Bhediya’s new look and the status of Bhediya 2.
Why Bhediya Is ‘Bigger And Khunkhar’
Fans noticed that Bhediya looks much bigger and more dangerous in Thamma compared to his last appearances. Amar Kaushik explained this was a very deliberate choice.
“When we made Bhediya (2022), we could have made him bigger and stronger. But we had seen that a lot in the films of the West and I didn’t want to repeat it,” Amar said. He explained that the story of the first film was about saving the forest, so Bhediya “should be like any other creature.”
He continued, “Now that the universe is expanding, Bhediya can’t remain just another beast. There was a need to give him more powers.” Amar revealed they thought about it and decided to make him “bigger and more khunkhar.” He even pointed to the scene in Thamma where Bhediya looks shocked to see his own new avatar in a mirror. This change also helps set up the rivalry between Bhediya and the film’s villain, Betaal.
Varun Dhawan Is ‘Putting Pressure’ For Bhediya 2
So, how did Varun Dhawan react to this new, super-powered Bhediya? “He’s very happy and putting pressure on me to make Bhediya 2 soon!” Amar laughed.
With so many hit cameos, fans are getting impatient for a full-fledged Bhediya 2 movie. When asked for an update, Amar Kaushik was honest. “We can’t make it unless we are excited with the script, and only then can we take things forward,” he explained. He made it clear that they won’t rush the film just for the sake of it. However, he left fans with a hopeful message: “I assure you that it won’t take much time now.”

Bhediya 2 is the upcoming sequel to the 2022 hit film Bhediya. It is part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, which also includes Stree, Roohi, Munjya, and Thamma. The film is set to star Varun Dhawan, reprising his role as Bhaskar/Bhediya, and will be directed by Amar Kaushik.
