The sequel to the hit horror-comedy Bhediya, starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon, has reportedly started scripting. The makers have announced that Bhediya 2 will release in 2025, as part of their horror-comedy universe, which also includes Stree 2, slated for August 31, 2024.
Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya 2 kickstarts first draft of script
As per the latest updates, the writer Niren Bhatt has kickstarted writing the script of the film and the first draft is currently underway. The film is backed by the same team director Amar Kaushik and producer Dinesh Vijan, who are also behind the successful Stree franchise.
Bhediya 2 will continue the story of Bhaskar (Varun), who transforms into a werewolf after he is bitten by a mythical wolf. The film will also explore the connection between the Bhediya and Stree universes, as hinted by the cameo of Shraddha Kapoor’s character in the first film and the same will be continued by Varun Dhawan’s cameo in Stree 2. It is not clear if Kriti Sanon will return in the sequel or not.
Varun Dhawan’s cameo in Stree 2
As per a report published in Bollywood Hungama, Varun Dhawan was very excited to enter the Stree universe and it was like a reunion with his producer and director friends Dinesh Vijan and Amit Kaushik. The report mentioned a source as saying, “Bhediya is a character close to Varun Dhawan’s heart and his appearance as Bhediya in Stree 2 will set things up for Bhediya 2. He had allotted two days to his producer friend, Dinesh Vijan and has already shot for a hilarious yet impactful cameo with Shraddha Kapoor.”
Bhediya 2 to continue from where Stree 2 ends
Once Stree 2 hits the screens this year, the team will immediately hop on to begin shooting for Bhediya 2. Also starring Deepak Dobriyal and Abhishek Banerjee, Bhediya 2 is expected to go on floors next year and it’s reportedly taking off from exactly where Stree 2 will be ending. It’s Vijan’s dream horror comedy universe and he’s doing the best for the team and the future of this grand universe.
Bhediya, which released on November 25, 2022, was a box office success. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised the performances, humor, and visual effects of the film.
Bhediya 2 is expected to be bigger and better than its predecessor, with more thrills, laughs, and surprises. Fans of the genre can look forward to a fun-filled ride with their favorite characters and some new additions to the horror-comedy universe.
