Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again went head-to-head this Diwali, creating one of the biggest box-office clashes of 2024. Both films were packed with star power and highly successful franchises, which sparked a frenzy among fans.
Kartik Aaryan leads Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, while Singham Again brings back Ajay Devgn, joined by an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, and Deepika Padukone. Despite the competition, both films enjoyed strong openings and continue to rake in solid numbers.
Bhushan Kumar Reveals The Reason Behind Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 & Singham Again Clash
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 producer Bhushan Kumar opened up about the clash and explained the challenges that led to both films being released on the same day.
According to Kumar, the intention from both sides was never to face off. However, various factors, including contractual obligations with OTT platforms, made the clash unavoidable.
“Franchises have a lot of value. So both franchises held significant value; we knew this, and so did they. It’s not that we both didn’t try. We mutually tried to avoid a clash, but both sides had certain constraints that made it unavoidable,” Kumar shared.
The producer went on to explain the constraints that led to the clash, particularly with OTT platforms. “Nowadays, there are some constraints, like pre-commitments with OTT platforms. If you try to change those dates, the OTT platform doesn’t allow it. That was our constraint, and they probably had similar ones.”
There was also a creative reason behind the release of Singham Again on Diwali. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film’s theme, based on the Ramayana, aligned perfectly with the festive season. Kumar elaborated on this point, saying, “They also had a creative limitation since the theme of their film was Ramayana, and they definitely wanted to release it on Diwali.”
Producer Says Their Film Is Now ‘Safe’
Despite the clash, Kumar expressed satisfaction with the outcome. “I’m very happy that Singham Again is also doing well, and so is our film,” he said. Both films are doing well at the box office, with fans continuing to show up in large numbers.
While the clash might have divided the audience, Kumar noted that the support for both films has been overwhelming. “Now, as for the loss from the clash… in an unavoidable situation… we consciously stepped into this situation because of the pre-commitments we had with OTT platforms. So it’s okay as long as our film is getting so much love. And it has done enough business that the film is now safe,” he explained.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which also stars Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, has been well-received by fans. Meanwhile, Singham Again continues to dominate with its star-studded cast and high-octane action.
