There were reports that Dunki team is demanding 100 percent showcasing from the single-screen owners and forcing them to screen the Shah Rukh Khan film over the Prabhas starrer Salaar. The single screen association took a stand and refused to open bookings of Dunki for Friday. But now the whole fight has taken U turn.
Salaar Makers Have Taken Stand Against Unfair Practices Of PVR INOX
Our sources have confirmed that team Salaar has taken a firm stand against unfair trade practices adopted by leading multiplexes. “Salaar team is planning to hurt the multiplex chains – PVR-Inox and Miraj – where it hurts the most. The makers have withdrawn the release of Salaar from the multiplex chains in the South Indian Markets. They won’t be releasing Salaar in any of their properties in the South Market,” a source revealed.
“Being a market leader, PVR-Inox should have taken a firm stand against unfair trade practices. But rather, they have opted to openly favor Dunki. All the single screens managed by PVR-Inox and Miraj favor Dunki over Salaar,” the source told us further.

Dunki To Release In All Single Screens In North
Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki will be releasing in all single screens owned by Pvr and Inox. This development has shocked many as Salaar will not be releasing anywhere in north in most of the lucrative properties. Advance booking for same has started all over for Friday onwards.
Advance Booking For Dunki
Shah Rukh Khan scored highest ever numbers in advance bookings earlier in the year with Pathaanand Jawan. No other film managed to come close to that pre release craze, be it Animal or Gadar 2 or Tiger 3. So it’s obvious that there is sense of disappointment among fans after little subdued advance bookings for Dunki. But the genre, mid week release and clash contributing to this subdued number of advances.
It’s Rajkumar Hirani film and his films are never about big opening or hysteria. But it’s about great reviews and word of mouth translating in record numbers. As of now Dunki has crossed 1.73 lacs tickets in national chains and it will finish around 3-3.20 lacs ticket in national chains by end of the day.
This is very healthy number as Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 despite being an action film and part of biggest universe of Hindi cinema managed 3.12 lac tickets in advances that too without clash. Even heavily promoted Brahmastra managed 3.02 lac tickets in national chains in advances.
Dunki will be releasing in 4400 cinemas tomorrow on day one as there is no clash factor but showcasing will come down to 3200-3500 by Friday due to Salaar. Single screen fights will go on till last minute but more or less it will be 65:35 ratio in favour of Dunki in north as per inside sources close to exhibition sector.
