BJP Slams Kangana Ranaut For Her Farmers’ Protest Comments: ‘She’s Neither Permitted Nor Authorised To Make Statements On Party Policy Issues’

Kangana Ranaut has faced BJP backlash for her comments on the farmers' protest, with the party clarifying she’s not authorised to speak on its behalf.

Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is facing trouble with her party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The 38-year-old MP from Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, has been publicly reprimanded for her controversial remarks about the farmers’ protest.

The BJP has clarified that her opinions do not reflect the party’s position and stressed that she is not authorised to speak on policy matters.

Here’s What Kangana Ranaut Said During Farmers’ Protest

The uproar began when Kangana suggested that the farmers’ protest could have escalated into a crisis akin to that of Bangladesh if the Indian government had not intervened.

In her statement, she remarked, “Bangladesh-like anarchy could have happened in India also like in the name of farmers’ protest. Outside forces are planning to destroy us with the help of insiders. If it hadn’t been for the foresight of our leadership, they would have succeeded. What happened in Bangladesh, it could have easily happened here too. There is a conspiracy by foreign powers and these filmy people thrive on it. They don’t care if the country goes to the dogs.”

BJP Clarifies Her Statement Is Not The Opinion Of Party

The BJP responded firmly, stating, “The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers’ movement is not the opinion of the party. BJP disagrees with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut. On behalf of the party, Kangana Ranaut is neither permitted nor authorised to make statements on party policy issues.”

They further stressed their commitment to social harmony and the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.’

This isn’t Kangana’s first run-in with controversy over the farmers’ protests. Back in 2020, during the height of the protests against the now-repealed farm laws, she incorrectly identified a woman farmer from Punjab as Bilkis Bano, a prominent figure in the anti-Citizenship Amendment Law (CAA) protests at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. Kangana’s remarks insinuated that the woman was “available for Rs. 100,” suggesting she could be hired to protest.

The backlash against Kangana’s comments was compounded by a separate incident in June this year when she was reportedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable at Chandigarh airport while en route to Delhi. This latest controversy adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding her public statements and interactions.
