Kangana Ranaut has set social media abuzz with the release of “Singhasan Khali Karo,” the first track from her upcoming film Emergency. Launched on Monday, the song is a dramatic and bold anthem that encapsulates the film’s intense political theme.
Emergency, a historical drama directed by and starring Ranaut, delves into the turbulent period of India’s Emergency (1975-77). Ranaut portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, exploring the political upheavals and power struggles of that era. The film aims to offer a deep insight into a time that dramatically reshaped the nation.
Emergency 1st Song ‘Singhasan Khali Karo’ OUT
The song, sung by Udit Narayan, Nakash Aziz, and Nakul Abhyankar, is penned by Manoj Muntashir. Its lyrics capture the revolutionary spirit of the 1970s, combining traditional elements with a modern sound.
The track calls for change and the giving up of power, capturing the public’s frustration during the Emergency.
Kangana Ranaut shared the song release update on social media, writing, “Sampoorna satta ko badalne ka ek hi tareeka hai sampoorna kranti! The people’s anthem #SinghasanKhaliKaro Out Now.” She highlighted the song’s roots in the iconic anthem ‘Singhasan Khali Karo Ki Janta Aati Hai’, which was a rallying cry during the Emergency.

Composer GV Prakash Says Working On The Song Was ‘Extraordinary’ Journey
Composer GV Prakash Kumar described working on the song as an “extraordinary journey,” capturing the raw, revolutionary spirit of the 1970s.
He praised the collaboration with Manoj Muntashir and the vocal trio, aiming to create a song that honours past struggles and empowers the present generation.
Ranaut’s portrayal of Gandhi promises to be a standout feature of Emergency, with the visuals of the song reflecting the film’s dramatic political intrigue and emotional depth. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, and Mahima Choudhry. Directed and co-produced by Ranaut, Emergency is set for release on September 6.
