Bobby Deol starrer Ashram 3 sets were vandalised by Bajrang Dal, threw ink at Prakash Jha

The makers of the series were previously arrested by Rajasthan Police for allegedly advocating discrimination against SC/STs.

Bajrang Dal workers vandalised the set of Prakash Jha’s upcoming online series Ashram 3 in Bhopal on Sunday, throwing ink at the director, according to ANI. Workers from the Bajrang Dal insisted that the show’s name be changed from Ashram. Otherwise, according to Bajrang Dal Bhopal leader Sushil Sudele, the shooting will not be permitted in the state.

“We want the film industry to be promoted here in Madhya Pradesh. People should get employment, but this land should not be used to humiliate Hindu samaj. In the earlier instalment of the series, it was shown that women are exploited inside Ashram, is it so? Stop defaming Hindus and if he wants to gain popularity then why not name any other religion and see the number of protests that happen,” the Bajrang Dal leader said.

According to reports, the workers yelled “Prakash Jha Murdabad,” “Bobby Deol Murdabad,” and “Jai Shri Ram” as they ran amok on the sets. They also stated that they were hunting for Bobby Deol, the series’ protagonist. They suggested that Bobby Deol learn from his brother Sunny Deol.

The shooting party’s vehicles were stopped, and Bajrang Dal workers threw stones at them, injuring some crew members. No one was killed, according to police, and those responsible for the vandalism on Sunday will face consequences. Irshad Wali, DIG Bhopal, clarified, “All the miscreants have been shunned from the premises and no one has been fatally injured, though some vehicles have been damaged. Further action will be taken against those responsible. I want to assure everyone that a similar situation will not be repeated again,” he said to ANI.

“We have given only a warning for now and Prakash Raj has said that he is in talks to change the show’s title,” Sushil Sudele said, adding “I repeat the show’s name will have to be changed from ‘Ashram’ or won’t be filmed here in Bhopal.”

Baba Nirala, who is both a godman and a conman, is played by Bobby Deol. In August 2020, the first season of the web series was released on the OTT platform MX player. This isn’t Ashram’s first run-in with trouble; in 2020, a Jodhpur court issued a notice to Bobby Deol and Prakash Jha after an attorney filed a petition alleging that the series offends religious feelings. The makers of the series were previously arrested by Rajasthan Police for allegedly advocating discrimination against SC/STs.
