‘Naatu Naatu’s victory at the Oscars was a historic moment for the Indian film industry, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards global recognition. The film’s success can be attributed to the excellent direction, cinematography, music, and performances by its cast, all of which came together to create a powerful and moving story of rural India. The film’s win is a testament to the talent and hard work of the Indian film industry, and it is hoped that this victory will open doors for more recognition of Indian films on the global stage.
However, Jaya Bachchan got trolled for her statement regarding the latter. This started when Congress President Malikarjun Kharge was heard praising the team by quoting, “Particularly first time such an award is given to this Naatu Naatu and also, to The Elephant Whisperers. So both, mostly, come from South India. It is a great pride to us.”
Contrary to which Jaya Bachchan stated, “It doesn’t matter where they are from North, East, South or West – they are Indians. I stand here with pride and respect for our film fraternity, who have represented this country many times and won many awards. The cinema market is here. It is not in America. This is just the beginning and I would like to congratulate the Indian population, for whom people in the West are recognising great works by Indian filmmakers.”
Bachchan’s statement backfired as fans started slamming her and Bollywood for always taking credit for something they have not done. While some people are criticising parliament for discussing this over the important events that are currently taking place.

South movies were always labeled as “Regional” movies by Bollywood or North Indian media, now suddenly they have new found love on South movies & want to label it as Indian cinema, Bahubali, KGF, Pushpa, Kanthara proved Bollywood is not even in the competition and they are hurt.
