A BAFTA win is already the kind of moment that can change a film’s destiny, but Boong is now turning that international applause into a straight invitation for Indian audiences to rediscover it where it belongs, in a dark theatre with a big screen and even bigger emotions. The Manipuri-language children and family drama, backed by Excel Entertainment in association with Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures, has unveiled its trailer as it gears up for a March 6 theatrical return.
The new trailer leans into the film’s most affecting strength, a child’s clarity of love. In gentle, lived-in frames, it sets up the world of Boong, his bond with his mother, and the innocent conviction that drives him to chase what he believes is the greatest gift possible.

The Latest Update
The makers have confirmed that Boong returned to cinemas on March 6, alongside the release of its official trailer. The re-release arrives on the heels of the film’s landmark BAFTA triumph, where Boong won the Best Children’s and Family Film honour at the 79th British Academy Film Awards, becoming the first Indian film to take the top prize in that category.
Director Lakshmipriya Devi has also explained the film’s emotional core in a verified quote shared after the win: “‘Boong’ means ‘a little boy’ in my language, Manipuri. So it’s about a boy who wants to get a very special gift for his mother. So he thinks by finding his father, who’s been missing for quite a while, that would be the best gift for his mother. So that’s basically the story of the film.”
