Sunny Deol & Makers Announce Border 2
The announcement video featured Sunny Deol’s powerful voiceover: “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, Hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai.”
This translates to, “27 years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. To fulfil that promise, and to salute the soil of India, he is returning.” The clip ends with the nostalgic notes of “Sandese Aate Hain,” the iconic song from the original film sung by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.

The Sequel Was Initially Shelved Due To Sunny Deol’s Low Performance At The BO
Sunny Deol’s return to the Border franchise has been a long time coming. He previously mentioned on The Ranveer Show that Border 2 was initially set to begin in 2015, but plans were shelved due to the underperformance of his then-recent release, which made producers hesitant.
Most recently, Sunny Deol was seen in Gadar 2, directed by Anil Sharma. In this sequel to the 2001 blockbuster, Sunny reprised his role as Tara Singh, a truck driver, with Ameesha Patel returning as Sakina. Gadar 2 was a massive hit, raking in over Rs 450 crore at the Indian box office.
