After the success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is preparing for his next major project – a sequel to his famous 1997 film Border. Border 2 is being promoted as India’s biggest war film and is generating a lot of excitement with its impressive cast. Deol will return as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, promising to deliver intense drama. The latest update of the film reveals a new cast detail.
Diljit Dosanjh In Border 2
Peeping Moon reports that Diljit Dosanjh is the newest addition to the cast of Border 2. Dosanjh, famous for his role as Amar Singh Chamkila in Imtiaz Ali’s Netflix hit, will play a real-life character in this Indo-Pak war drama. Although details about his role are not yet revealed, Dosanjh is thrilled to play an army officer and will begin preparing for the part soon.
Dosanjh’s involvement in Border 2 is a continuation of his successful collaborations with the film’s director, Anurag Singh. The pair have worked together on several films over the past twelve years, including Jatt & Juliet, Disco Singh, Punjab 1984, and Super Singh. Their ongoing partnership seems to have seamlessly extended to this high-profile sequel.
Ayushmann Khurrana Is Still On Talking Stage
As for Ayushmann Khurrana, he is rumoured to be in negotiations for a significant role but has not yet finalised his involvement. Suniel Shetty’s son, Ahan Shetty, is also speculated to be part of the cast, though this remains unconfirmed. Additionally, Punjabi actor Ammy Virk was previously rumoured to join the film, but it’s unclear whether he will still be involved or if Dosanjh will take over the role initially intended for him.
Plot details for Border 2 are still under wraps, but reports suggest that it will cover the same night as the original Border. The sequel is expected to depict the Battle of Longewala from the perspectives of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. While the 1997 film was directed by J.P. Dutta, the sequel will be helmed by Anurag Singh, who gained popularity for directing Akshay Kumar’s Kesari.
Currently in the pre-production stage, Border 2 is set to begin filming around November 2024, with a planned theatrical release on Republic Day weekend 2026. As the project progresses, fans eagerly await further updates on the film’s cast and storyline.
