Chand Mera Dil Runtime Gets Longer Before Release, Cbfc Clears Extended Cut With 8 Added Scenes

Just a day before it reaches cinemas, Chand Mera Dil has gone through a notable last-minute expansion. The Lakshya and Ananya Panday starrer, positioned as Dharma Productions’ new romantic offering, has received clearance for a longer version from the Central Board of Film Certification, giving the film a revised runtime ahead of its May 22 release.

Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that the makers returned to the CBFC on May 20 after voluntarily adding fresh material to the film. The development comes after the film had already been certified earlier this month with a U/A 16+ rating.

Cbfc Clears Longer Cut Of Chand Mera Dil

The CBFC had first passed Chand Mera Dil on May 8 with a certified length of 135.36 minutes, which is 2 hours, 15 minutes and 36 seconds. The newly cleared version now runs for 145.53 minutes, taking the total length to 2 hours, 25 minutes and 53 seconds.

The extended cut includes 8 newly added scenes. Some of these additions are brief, with individual durations of 9 seconds, 16 seconds and 35 seconds, while others run for over a minute each. One scene in the first half is 3 minutes and 55 seconds long. Together, the added portions amount to 10 minutes and 17 seconds of new footage.

The change has also had a practical impact on exhibition planning. With show schedules already being worked out for the Friday release, cinemas have had to adjust programming around the revised length.

An exhibitor said, “The team of Dharma has been extremely reasonable and haven’t asked for too many shows. However, the Marathi film Deool Band 2 has emerged as a surprise and is doing much better than expectations. In certain pockets, the Marathi flick had more demand. Moreover, the new runtime of Chand Mera Dil meant that programmers had to go back to the drawing board to replan the show schedules. However, in a few hours, all cinemas will throw open their bookings.”

Ticket Pricing And Advance Booking Update

For release day, shows before 5:00 pm will have tickets priced at Rs. 149, while shows after 5:00 pm will be priced at Rs. 199. Advance booking had opened late in select Mumbai theatres on Thursday, while some cinemas were still in the process of making shows available.

The revised runtime gives the romantic drama additional emotional and narrative space, sharpening the film’s appeal for audiences tracking Dharma Productions’ latest big-screen love story.

Chand Mera Dil Cast, Director And Story Details

Chand Mera Dil is directed by Vivek Soni, who previously helmed Meenakshi Sundareshwar in 2021 and Aap Jaisa Koi in 2025. The film stars Lakshya and Ananya Panday in the lead roles, with IMDb listing them as Aarav and Chandni respectively.

The film is backed by Dharma Productions, with Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Marijke deSouza credited as producers. Designed as a love story, Chand Mera Dil follows two young people whose relationship forms the emotional core of the film, and the newly added scenes expand that arc.
