Kartik Aaryan recently spilled the beans about his character in the upcoming film, Chandu Champion, during the final episode of Neha Dhupia’s chat show, No Filter Neha. Joined by the charismatic host, Aaryan delved into the intricacies of portraying the remarkable journey of Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist.
Expressing his initial disbelief upon being offered the role, Aaryan emphasised the complexity of the character and the narrative. Chandu Champion isn’t just another sports drama; it encapsulates Petkar’s multifaceted life, spanning different sports and phases, intertwined with his dedication as an army officer.
Aaryan’s portrayal required a significant physical transformation, depicting Petkar’s evolution from his youth to later years, a challenge he embraced wholeheartedly.

Director Kabir Khan, known for his meticulous attention to detail in films like New York and 83, ensured authenticity in depicting Petkar’s journey. Aaryan revealed dedicating a year solely to the project, immersing himself in Petkar’s persona.
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 star explained that he had to change his appearance significantly to play Petkar. The actor said, “We’re portraying him at ages 17, 24, and older. So, you’ll see a big change in my looks throughout the movie. My workouts were tailored to match each stage of his life—he had to look youthful at one point, then mature later on. The filming took a whole year, and I focused solely on that project during that time.”

Aside from Chandu Champion, Aaryan is also working on his another film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee, where he stars alongside Triptii Dimri.
Chandu Champion, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, promises to be a captivating portrayal of resilience and triumph. It is set to hit the screens on June 14, 2024.
