Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava finally hit theatres yesterday and fans are going all out to celebrate. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the historical drama features Vicky as Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film has opened to glowing reviews and a record-breaking box office collection, making it one of the biggest hits of 2025.

Fans In Hyderabad Celebrate Chhaava Release
In Hyderabad, fans celebrated in a grand way outside Sree Sai Raja Theatre in Musheerabad.
A viral video shows a group of men chanting slogans, holding a saffron flag, and worshipping a giant poster of Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji. Another clip shows them breaking coconuts and pouring milk over the poster, a tradition often seen during major superstar releases in South India.

Film’s Impressive Start At The Box Office
The box office numbers speak for themselves. Chhaava has earned a massive Rs 33 crore on its opening day, making it the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far. It has outperformed big titles like Sky Force and Badass Ravi Kumar, which failed to match its first-day earnings.
For Vicky Kaushal, this is a major milestone. His previous best opening was Bad News with Rs 8.62 crore, followed by Uri: The Surgical Strike with Rs 8.20 crore. With Chhaava smashing all records, it has become his biggest opening yet.
