Directed by Rohit Shetty, Cirkus stars Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jaqueline Fernandez, Varun Sharma, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra and others. It hit the big screen earlier today across the country.
Plot
Roy and Joy (Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in double roles), one set each, grew up in Bangalore and Ooty respectively. It includes a circus operator and his gymnast friends hailing from a huge circus company ‘juggle’ with their lives and attempt to bring back the extinct circus culture to the public.
Post discovering two sets of identical twins on the doorstep of his orphanage, Dr. Roy Jamnadas sends them up for adoption to two different families in two different cities. After some years, a comedy of errors begins when one set of twins decides to visit the city where the other set of twins operates a circus. Pooja Hegde plays Roy’s wife and Jacqueline Fernandez who acts as a girlfriend to Joy. The latter has a father played by Sanjay Mishra
Analysis
Sanjay, Johnny Lever steal the show with their punch lines from like “Self-Respect” and others. It’s set in 1960s and is placed in an attractive location. Deepika is better in the song in comparison to Jacqueline, Pooja who are decent to watch for. Shetty’s direction has to be relooked to give spark like he did in his previous films.
Verdict
It sends a line message about we-are-all-one, irrespective of labels of class, religion, making up for a snide Mughal emperor crack right in the start. The movie has many characters but not much attraction is served to audiences. It could make you anguish when an average joke can make you chuckle once only. It makes much attempts to be funny in the 138-min film. Our Box-offices estimates suggest the movie is expected to struggle on the opening day with 12.5 cr and weekend collection as 48 cr nett.
