The promotional campaign for Cocktail 2 has found its next big moment. At a lively event in Mumbai on May 17, the makers gave the media an early look at two very different songs from the film, Mashooka and Tujhko, before confirming that the trailer will launch on May 29. With Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna at the centre of the film’s romantic pull, the preview was clearly designed to set the tone before the full trailer drops.
The event brought together Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Rashmika Mandanna, producers Dinesh Vijan and Luv Ranjan, director Homi Adajania, and music director Pritam Chakraborty. What began as a media gathering with the promise of a surprise quickly turned into a first look at two tracks that appear to represent the film’s contrasting moods, one playful and glamorous, the other emotional and aching.
Mashooka Wins The First Release Race
The first song shown, Mashooka, features Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in Sicily, Italy, and other scenic locations. The number was presented as a bright, foot-tapping track that places the pair in a playful, goofy space before moving into a more seductive dance stretch.
The second song, Tujhko, is sung by Arijit Singh and shifts the emotional register entirely. Built around Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, it is a slow romantic track that hints the two characters were once college sweethearts before life pulled them apart.
Once both songs were screened, the media was asked to choose which one should be released first. The voting began with journalists shouting out their preferred title, before shifting to a digital vote through a QR code flashed on screen. In the final count, Mashooka secured more votes than Tujhko.
That result prompted some fun banter on stage, especially as the team appeared equally convinced about the strength of both tracks. Pritam Chakraborty pushed for the audience verdict to be respected, and Dinesh Vijan then announced that Mashooka would release first, with Tujhko to follow.
