Kiara Advani has found herself amid a social media controversy after praising choreographer Jani Master in an Instagram post. While promoting her upcoming film Game Changer, Kiara shared a behind-the-scenes video of her dance rehearsals and thanked Jani for his choreography.
However, her appreciation sparked backlash due to Jani Master’s troubling legal history.
Kiara Advani Faces Backlash For Mentioning Jani Master In Her Post
In her post, Kiara wrote, “I remember seeing @alwaysjani master’s choreography and thinking how are we going to do this, but that’s the beauty of our job, always learning something new.”
While Kiara was highlighting his choreography skills, social media users quickly reminded her of the serious accusations against Jani Master.
He has been accused of sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, with the allegations involving a former employee who claims she was assaulted when she was 16.
As a result of these accusations, Jani Master’s National Film Award for the song Megham Karukkatha was revoked. His legal issues have made him a controversial figure, and many felt Kiara’s post was tone-deaf, given the gravity of the allegations.
The backlash was immediate, with fans expressing their disappointment in the comments. One user pointed out, “Tone-deaf, especially when even his national award was taken back after the uproar over granting him bail.”
Another wrote, “The so-called cream of the crop are truly built differently, they come across as tone-deaf and completely lacking morals.”
Actress Quickly Removes His Name After Criticism
After facing criticism, Kiara quickly edited her post to remove any mention of Jani Master. This move came after the online uproar, showing how sensitive the public is when it comes to celebrities associating with controversial figures.
Kiara remains in the spotlight for her role in Game Changer, which is set to release on January 10, 2025. Directed by Shankar, the film stars Ram Charan alongside Kiara, with a supporting cast including Anjali, Samuthirakani, S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, and Sunil.
