Can a Bollywood film actually pass the censor board without any cuts? In a rare and surprising development, De De Pyaar De 2 has achieved exactly that. The upcoming comedy drama starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification without a single visual or audio modification.
The Examining Committee of the CBFC passed De De Pyaar De 2 completely as it is, with no deletions or replacements. The film was granted a U/A 13+ certificate on November 6, 2025. According to the official censor certificate, the total runtime of the movie is 147.10 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds. The film is set to release in cinemas across India on November 14.
What Makes This Development So Rare
The CBFC is typically known for imposing several modifications on films before granting certification. Even clean family entertainers often face requests for scene deletions, dialogue replacements or visual modifications that the board finds inappropriate. This makes the zero cut clearance for De De Pyaar De 2 a genuinely pleasant surprise for the industry and audiences alike.
How The First Film Fared With The Censor Board
The contrast becomes even more striking when we look at the original De De Pyaar De from 2019. The Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh starrer went through significant censorship during its certification process. The CBFC deleted the visuals of Rakul Preet Singh holding an alcohol bottle and replaced it with footage of the actress holding flowers instead. Additionally, two dialogues that contained double meanings were asked to be modified before the film could be cleared for release. The sequel has clearly managed to avoid any such controversies or objectionable content.
Second November Release With Zero Cuts
De De Pyaar De 2 is not the only November release to pass certification without modifications. The film joins Haq, which stars Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, in achieving this rare feat. Haq is based on the controversial and sensitive Shah Bano case, and such films dealing with religious and social controversies usually face maximum scrutiny and cuts from the CBFC. However, Haq also received a U/A 13+ certificate with no cuts whatsoever. The film has a runtime of 136 minutes and its makers received the censor certificate on October 28. Haq released in cinemas on November 7.
About De De Pyaar De 2
De De Pyaar De 2 is the sequel to the 2019 romantic comedy De De Pyaar De. While the first film featured Ajay Devgn opposite Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, the sequel brings in R Madhavan as the new lead alongside Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. The film promises to deliver the same mix of romance, comedy and family drama that made the original a commercial success.
