Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, following the release of Animal, has caused quite the uproar online due to a pointed tweet he posted that intentionally hinted at Deepika Padukone after she left his next project Spirit, which stars Prabhas.

With hashtags like #dirtyPRgames and the hashtags “You didn’t get it, you don’t get it, you will never get it,” the impact of Vanga’s grievance could not be understated.
While Vanga did not directly name Deepika, it was more than clear, and the audience was by far quicker to read the subtext than any journalist was to transcribe it.

The larger question this incident raises isn’t so much about star exits or recasting. It is about how Bollywood manages fallout and, more importantly, how PR as spin is represented as journalism.
