Love vs. Society: The First Posters of Dhadak 2 Set the Stage for a 2025 Tearjerker
The conflict between love and hapless social constraints takes centre stage as the first posters of Dhadak 2 emerge, offering filmgoers a glimpse into what will likely be one of the hot-button films of 2025.
Featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, Dhadak 2 is produced by a trio of major Hindi film studio productions, including Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, and Cloud9 Pictures. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, it hits theatres on August 1, 2025.
First Look: A Fierce Embrace, A Fiery Message
On May 26, Karan Johar posted this image on social media with his personal tagline reinforcing the fight:
“Marne aur ladne mein se ek ko chunna ho… toh ladna.”
(If you must choose between dying and fighting — then fight.)
The image clearly depicts Siddhant hugging Triptii tightly, with their faces masked and energy clearly charged by the tangle of hair beneath, as well as the tension holding them at bay. It’s love, but with thorns. It’s warm, but with a brewing storm underneath.
And while it may appear as a love story that seems ordinary (it’s not), it’s a fight disguised as romance.
Dhadak 2: Censorship, Controversy & A Release Date Locked
Dhadak 2 previously made headlines after delays with the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification); it took 16 adjustments before finally being granted a U/A certification, as the film tackles caste-based discrimination.
References to political figures and caste realities were toned down. Slurs were muted, references to religious obligations were also altered, and allusions like the popular metaphor about pens were changed to neutral comparisons.
The most powerful piece of dialogue changed was:
“3,000 years of backlog is not going to be wiped in 70 years.”
To:
“The backlog of discrimination from the past is not going to be wiped in 70 years.”
The CBFC also wanted a longer spoken disclaimer and edits on humiliation, spiritual allusions, and violence.
A New Story, A New Age Of Dhadak
While the original Dhadak (2018) introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, Dhadak 2 is a story unto itself — grittier and bolder and having a much stronger political sense of urgency. The casting of Siddhant and Triptii is much more than just a new pairing — it is a deliberate shift towards raw intensity as well as substance.
Siddhant Chaturvedi, having last been seen in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, brings a quiet fire to his work. Triptii Dimri, the breakout from Qala and Animal, brings emotional heft and a haunted vulnerability.
Under Shazia Iqbal’s direction, this sequel builds from a teen love drama into an urgent call for justice through film.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict
With a tagline challenging you to fight instead of back down, Dhadak 2 represents a huge transformation in how Bollywood love stories are told. Siddhant and Triptii do not just hug; they hold each other against the world. Supported by Dharma, Zee, and Cloud9, and in the hands of Shazia Iqbal’s fearless vision, this is not just a rom-com you view with popcorn — this is a commentary on society disguised in heartbreak.
