Deepika Padukone is facing an uphill battle following the release of the trailer for Singham Again. The film introduces her as SP Shakti Shetty, marking her entry into Rohit Shetty’s popular cop universe.
The excitement was seen among fans when it was announced she would take on the role of Lady Singham. However, the trailer’s reception has been anything but favourable.
Fans of the franchise were eager to see how Padukone would fit into a world dominated by established stars like Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Akshay Kumar. In the past, Devgn’s portrayal of Bajirao Singham in Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014) won over audiences.
Similarly, Singh and Kumar brought their own flair to the franchise with Simmba (2018) and Sooryavanshi (2021). With this star-studded cast, expectations for Padukone were high.

Unfortunately, the trailer’s release has led to a wave of criticism on social media. Many netizens described her performance as “cringe,” claiming she was miscast in the role.
Commenters highlighted her accent and delivery as points of concern, suggesting she struggled to match the energy of her co-stars. Some even questioned whether Rohit Shetty should reconsider plans for a female-led cop film starring Padukone.
One Reddit user voiced their concerns, stating, “Yeah, after the trailer, and considering her dialogue delivery sucks after 18 years… Deepika ain’t getting her own movie. No one wants to listen to that for 2.5 hours.”
Another user simply said, “Mujhe inke Singham 3 me side role dekhne ki himmat nahi hai…. Full movie toh bohot durr ki baat,”
Interestingly, some fans were more supportive, suggesting that Padukone’s star power should not be underestimated. One comment read, “I don’t think they should, but I don’t mind if they do because then DP risks exposing her box office pull again after Gehraiyaan and Chhapak.”
The user seemed to imply that this could be a risky move for Padukone’s reputation, especially after her last few box-office outings.

Talking about Singham Again, it is the 3rd instalment in the Singham franchise, directed by Rohit Shetty. It takes inspiration from the Hindu epic, the Ramayana, mixing mythological themes with modern storytelling.
The story follows Ajay Devgn’s character as he sets out to rescue his wife, Avni, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. To achieve this, he gathers a strong team of allies, including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Tiger Shroff. The film stars Arjun Kapoor as a villain.
It is all set to release this Diwali and compete with Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
