Renowned for his critically acclaimed work on Netflix’s Delhi Crime and Amazon Prime’s Poacher, Richie Mehta is back with another compelling project. This time, he’s joining forces with Imagine Entertainment and Baweja Studios for the upcoming film Boy From Andaman.
The film promises to be a deeply moving tale of faith, hope, and humanity, themes that resonate profoundly in today’s world. Making her directorial debut with this project is Parinaz Jal. Jal, along with Manu Chopra, has also penned the script.
About Boy From Andaman
Boy From Andaman tells the story of Mohan, a post office worker in Mumbai who finds himself drawn into an extraordinary friendship with a young boy from the Andaman Islands.
The boy, a survivor of the devastating 2004 tsunami, writes a letter addressed to “God,” which lands in Mohan’s hands. This unusual connection sparks a heartfelt exchange of letters, ultimately leading Mohan to embark on a journey to the Andaman Islands to save the boy.

Richie Mehta, who will serve as the Executive Producer, expressed his excitement about the project. “When Janice Chua approached me about this story, I was instantly taken by the simplicity, potency, and beauty of it. As a collaboration between Imagine, Bhhaskar, Rick, Parinaz, Harman, and myself, we could make something magical. I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure and bring this powerful tale to life.”
The film is produced by a team of industry veterans, including Janice Chua, Rick Ambros, Bhhaskar De, and Harman Baweja. Chua, representing Imagine Entertainment, is leading the charge on this project. She shared her thoughts on the story, saying, “I was deeply moved by Manu Chopra’s story when it was first introduced to me through Rick and Bhhaskar. I’m thrilled to collaborate with the talented Richie Mehta and first-time director Parinaz Jal, to bring this powerful script to life.”
Rick Ambros, a Hollywood veteran, and Bhhaskar De, a Vancouver-based producer and former Zee executive, echoed Chua’s sentiments. They described Boy from Andaman as a story that “renews our faith in humanity, something often in short supply today.” The duo expressed their excitement about collaborating with such a talented team to bring this heartwarming story to the big screen.
Harman Baweja, a producer, writer, and actor, who heads Baweja Studios, is also deeply invested in the project. He said, “I’m excited to be part of such an ambitious project, Boy from Andaman—a story that is both heartwarming and inspiring.”
