But I mentioned the name of one Bollywood star, all of a sudden your started your pens! So, what is a Marathi person supposed to do for publicity? Should he go to the people in towns and villages right in the middle of blazing summer, or should he sit in an AC car and simply mention the name of a Bollywood star?”
The frustration in that statement is unmistakable, and it lays bare the imbalance Tarde is pointing to. His criticism was not aimed at taking away from Shah Rukh Khan’s generosity. Earlier, while speaking about Khan’s support for the film, Tarde had also said, “What Shah Rukh Khan did when the film was nothing, when nobody knew whether it would work or not, will always be remembered. I will forever be grateful to him.”
