Diljit Dosanjh’s Jodi Collected More Than What Chamkila Earned In His Entire Lifetime?
A year prior to the release of Amar Singh Chamkila, Diljit produced and starred in Jodi, a 2023 Punjabi film that unofficially depicted the life of Amar Singh Chamkila. Despite facing obstacles due to its unofficial status, Jodi emerged as a massive success at the box office, grossing Rs 13.45 crore in India and a whopping Rs 47.46 crore worldwide. Reportedly, the film’s revenue surpassed even that of the legendary singer’s lifetime earnings from his music.
Co-starring Nimrat Khaira, Jodi secured its place as the fourth highest-grossing Punjabi film of 2023, despite the controversies surrounding its release.
Diljit Dosanjh Says THIS About Working On Jodi And His Acting Career
Diljit recently talked about his time working on Jodi and then getting the chance to be in Imtiaz Ali’s movie during a Netflix event. At first, he wasn’t sure about doing another movie about Chamkila because Jodi was made up, not real. But after hearing what Ali wanted to do, Diljit got excited about showing Chamkila’s story in the right way.
In an interview with Film Companion, Diljit shared how he’s changed his approach to acting. Instead of planning everything out, he’s learning to go with the flow and grab opportunities when they show up. Remembering Jodi, Diljit stressed the importance of being patient and true to the story, especially when they couldn’t get the rights for the film.
