Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan is one of his most successful films. The film would not have done as well at the box office if it hadn’t been for Vijayendra Prasad’s story. The film’s genuine sentiment is appropriately heightened by filmmaker Kabir Khan. However, Vijayendra Prasad had hoped for Rajamouli to direct the film, but the Baahubali filmmaker passed up the opportunity.
Vijayendra Prasad disclosed an interesting anecdote about the film with Rajamouli in a recent interview.
When they were filming Baahubali, the star writer told Rajamouli the story of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Rajamouli refused to direct the film after hearing the script. Vijayendra Prasad later approached Kabir Khan.
Rajamouli, on the other hand, regrets not taking the chance to direct the movie. Vijayendra Prasad holds himself responsible. Vijayendra Prasad said that he told the story and presented his idea at the inappropriate moment.
“When he (Rajamouli) was filming the war sequences, I narrated him the story. It was peak time for us and Rajamouli was fully focused on the shoot. I should have picked a proper time to narrate the story,” said the writer.
According to Vijayendra Prasad, a sequel to Bajrangi Bhaijaan is in the works, and Salman Khan has given his nod to the story. What remains to be seen is whether Rajamouli exhibits interest in directing the sequel.
