Diljit Dosanjh starrer highly awaited film Punjab ’95 has faced yet another delay, leaving fans disheartened. This comes just days after the release date was confirmed in the teaser, sparking questions about the sudden change.
Diljit Dosanjh Shares An Apology Note On Punjab 95 Delay
Diljit addressed the delay on Instagram & apologised to fans. “We are very sorry and it pains us to inform you that the movie Punjab ’95 will not release on 7th Feb due to circumstances beyond our control,” he shared in a story. However, the reason for the delay was not revealed.
The film (directed by Honey Trehan) had earlier faced a long struggle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Over a year ago, the CBFC reportedly suggested 120 cuts, citing the film’s sensitive content. This led the makers to consider releasing the film internationally to bypass the censorship challenges in India.

Punjab ’95 tells the story of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who stood against injustice in post-independence Punjab. The film highlights the unlawful killings of Sikh youths during the militancy of the 1990s. Khalra’s fight to expose these atrocities led to his abduction, torture, and eventual murder.
Khalra’s family, including his wife, Paramjit Kaur Khalra, watched the film and gave it their full support. Paramjit criticised the CBFC‘s stance, urging the film to be released without any cuts. Her backing strengthened the makers’ decision to release the film as it is.
When the teaser was unveiled on 17th January, it brought hope to fans who had been waiting eagerly. The makers also confirmed a 7th February release date, giving fans something to look forward to.
Despite the initial excitement, this delay has once again left fans waiting. The makers have not announced a new release date, leaving many speculating about the reasons for yet another postponement.
