Way back it was reported that Deepika Padukone will be a part of Hollywood classic The Intern’s Hindi remake. It was also reported that late actor Rishi Kapoor will be a part of the film too. However, a lot of things have changed since then. Now according to the latest update, Deepika is still interested in the project and not just this but she will be co-producing it.
As per the information, Badhaai Ho filmmaker Amit Sharma will direct the film. Reports also suggested that the filmmaker has even sketched a draft for his version of the Hollywood classic. Sharma will begin work on The Intern adaptation after he wraps up his current project with Ajay Devgn, Maidaan.
A source was quoted as saying, “They were contemplating on multiple names, but finally, zeroed in on Amit Sharma as the director. Sharma, in the past, has helmed Badhaai Ho and is currently on the verge of completing the Ajay Devgn fronted sports biopic, Maidaan. The team of The Intern unanimously felt that Amit is the best choice for the film and the director too is in sync with the vision to bring the classic to India. In fact, he has already prepared a draft for his adaptation and will develop it further once Maidaan is wrapped up in a fortnight.”
It was also reported that the film may go on the floors this year in November. Deepika, who is busy with several projects including Pathan and Nag Ashwin’s next with Prabhas will start the shoot of the film soon.
Since the unfortunate demise of actor Rishi Kapoor, makers are now looking for a male lead. A formal announcement is expected this summer.
