Kangana Ranaut‘s much-awaited film Emergency finally has a new release date. After facing multiple delays, the film will now premiere in theatres on September 6, 2024. Ranaut, who also directs the film, announced the news on her social media.
Kangana Announces Emergency Release
In her announcement, she wrote, “The Beginning of the 50th Year of Independent India’s Darkest Chapter, Announcing #KanganaRanaut’s #Emergency In Cinemas on 6th September 2024. The Explosive Saga of The Most Controversial Episode of The History of Indian Democracy, #EmergencyOn6Sept in cinemas worldwide.”
Kangana also shared her thoughts, stating, “I am deeply inspired by William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The essence of Emergency is the destruction wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints. It is undoubtedly the most sensational chapter of Indian democracy and I am eagerly awaiting its worldwide release on 6th September 2024.”
About Emergency
Emergency, written and directed by Kangana Ranaut, boasts a star-studded cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The film is produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, with music by Sanchit Balhara and screenplay and dialogues by Ritesh Shah.
The story focuses on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with Ranaut playing the lead role. It explores the period of the Emergency imposed in India in 1975, a significant and controversial time in the nation’s history.
Kangana’s Political Front
Recently, Kangana Ranaut has been in the spotlight not only for her film but also for her political achievements. She ran for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi seat on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket and won by a large margin of over 55,000 votes. Speaking to ANI, she expressed her gratitude to the voters and reaffirmed her commitment to serving Himachal Pradesh, her “janmabhoomi” (birthplace).
She secured a decisive victory against Congress’ Vikramaditya Singh. Known for her vocal support of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ranaut remains one of the few Bollywood stars to openly endorse the ruling party. She has often called herself a fan of Modi, further solidifying her political stance alongside her film career.
