Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Jaideep Ahlawat starrer Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, released in a limited set of cinemas in March amidst the ongoing pandemic. The film failed to garner any buzz, despite good reviews from critics. The film also received low rating on IMDb, because of anti-nepotism sentiment.
But since the film has recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video, Netizens can’t stop praising the film. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, directed by Dibakar Bannerjee is being called a ‘hidden gem’ and being given a ‘cult’ status among film fanatics. They’re also disappointed with the makers, YRF and OTT platform for not generating enough awareness or marketing buzz around the film.
What is also surprising is, that a film which was rated 2.8 on IMDb before its OTT release, has now jumped to 5.8 rating, after its OTT release. Most of the user reviews earlier stemmed from the ‘anti-nepotism’ sentiment, even though most of them hadn’t watched the film. But now, as more and more netizens have seen and loved the film, they’ve taken the rating to a much higher number.
It is to be noted, that this is one of the highest jump any Hindi film has seen from its theatrical to OTT/Satellite premiere.
