Shah Rukh Khan, the king of romance, has given us films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, K3G, Veer Zaara, Chak De India, and many others. Over the years, the actor has made us fall in love with him and has given us incredible performances. He’s also recognised for his villainous parts in films such as Darr, Baazigar, Anjaam, Don, and others.
Shah Rukh Khan has accomplished a lot in his 28-year career in the film industry. The actor achieved extraordinary commercial and critical success. Khan, on the other hand, has been unlucky on multiple times, since he has not received his due despite giving his all.
On the one side, Chennai Express, a no-brainer masala film, is SRK’s highest-grossing film, while on the other hand, some of his greatest movies have failed to find commercial success. So, today, we’ll discuss his highest-rated film, which also happens to be one of his biggest disasters.
Swades:
The film is a story of Mohan, an Indian expatriate working for NASA, returns to his homeland in search of his beloved nanny, Kaveri. He finds himself fighting for reform in a village throughout his stay.
Swades, starring Shah Rukh Khan, gets over 82,000 votes, while Chak De India has over 73,000. Both films are considered cult classics by SRK, although Swades was a commercial flop. Yes, when it was released in 2004, it only made roughly 16 crores.
So, Swades, here’s the sad side of the storey: SRK’s highest-rated film also happens to be his worst flop ever!
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani:
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani is a 2000 film about Ajay Bakshi (Shahrukh Khan), a successful loudmouthed reporter who works for a reputable news station. Ria Banerjee (Juhi Chawla) is hired by a competing news channel to bring him down. Ria is the polar opposite of Ajay, relying on her brains, charm, and wits to complete her tasks.
Although the film did not break.any box office records and was considered a flop, it still managed to make a place in our hearts with the quirky performances and intriguing storyline.
Dil se:
On assignment, journalist Amar (Shah Rukh Khan) falls in love with a strange woman Meghna (Manisha Koirala), but she does not reciprocate his sentiments. However, just as Amar is set to marry, the woman appears on his doorstep, pleading for assistance.
It’s a film that will almost certainly be misconstrued. In actuality, I think it’s a big project, and Ratnam pulls it off with style and conviction. Shahrukh Khan has featured in a wide variety of films, portraying a wide variety of characters. He is a compelling, tireless screen presence in Dil Se, but also portraying a man humbled by a love that is too intense and invasive for him to comprehend.
Fan:
Released in the year 2016, Fan is an action thriller film directed by Maneesh Sharma and co-written by Sharma and Habib Faisal. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as filmstar Aryan Khanna and his obsessive fan Gaurav Chandna, who looks just like him, and is produced by Aditya Chopra. To gratify Aryan, Gaurav beats up a competitor actor, but is instead chastised by his idol; distraught, the fan plagiarises Gaurav’s work.
The film turned out to be a box office flop but let’s talk about Shah Rukh Khan’s performance and cinematography of this film. With one or the other way, this film wom our hearts with it’s unique storyline.
Zero:
The film was made on a budget of 200 crores (US$28 million). Zero is Khan’s most expensive movie, and it was conceptualised by Aanand L Rai in 2012, before to the start of pre-production in 2016. On December 21, 2018, Zero was released to mixed reviews from critics. The film’s visual effects and Khan and Kaif’s performances were praised by critics, while the storyline was criticised for being uneven.
But look at the bright side about how Shah Rukh Khan took a risk of playing a character that is the most difficult to showcase on screen. With Zero, the superstar proved that there’s nothing that SRK can’t do.
