Imtiaz Ali’s film about Amar Singh Chamkila will not feature Ranbir Kapoor

The director-actor duo is in talks for a project after a six-year hiatus, and sources say that Ranbir has given his blessing to the script as well.

In the movies, Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor make a powerful duo. They’ve previously collaborated on two outstanding films, Rockstar and Tamasha, and are planning to do so again for another picture. The director-actor duo is in talks for a project after a six-year hiatus, and sources say that Ranbir has given his blessing to the script as well.

The film was expected to be a biopic of controversial musician Amar Singh Chamkila, but that is not the case. They don’t want to work together on the biopic because it’s based on the same premise as Rockstar, and Ranbir will be in one of Imtiaz’s two projects at the same time.

A source told a leading daily, ‘While the biopic of Amar Singh Chamkila was one of the films Imtiaz was working on, he had two other scripts too that he was writing simultaneously. One is a social film that sends out a message on suicide, the details of the other film have been carefully kept under wraps. Ranbir”s film is not the biopic because it will bring him to a similar Rockstar like space with him playing a musician, although the stories are poles apart. Ranbir”s film is one of the other two projects that Imtiaz has been making ready.”

Whatever the case may be, we enjoy seeing these two incredible artists collaborate.
