Fake followers to Bots of Gems of Bollywood Twitter Account, Reveals Audit By Netizens?

The tool for detecting fake followers revealed that 34% of followers are fake, which includes spam, bots, propaganda, whereas 56% don't have unidentified locations.

A Twitter account, @gemsofbollywood as its username, with 258K as followers, has allegedly got fake followers according to an audit posted by user @Nilzrav. The account, which remains a part of boycott trend for recently released movies, calls itself  “Education”. It even asks people to support and donate for what they do.

The tool for detecting fake followers revealed that 34% of followers are fake, which includes spam, bots, propaganda, whereas 56% don’t have unidentified locations and 45% users have spam correlated signals. 11% of its followers have not been active for more than 120 days with 3% inactive between 90 and 120 days. As per their bio, it is run by Sanjeev Newar and Swarajyamag employee Swati Goel Sharma.

 

Many films, including Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan reportedly fell prey to the Boycott call run by a planned machinery like these accounts. The revelation of followers shows how such a campaign works against Bollywood movies as and when they get released.
