Farhan Akhtar, the multi-talented actor, director, producer and writer is on a roll. He has recently opened up about his upcoming projects, which include the much-awaited directorial ventures Don 3 and Jee Le Zaraa and Spanish film Campeones remake that he’s doing as an actor for Aamir Khan Productions.
Farhan Akhtar On All Three Projects
Farhan Akhtar told Khaleej Times that he is currently waiting for the ‘dates to align’ before he starts with Jee Le Zaraa, and that it hasn’t been easy at all. His focus is on Don 3, and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up after that.
“Right now, I’m just waiting for the dates to align, it’s not been easy at all. So, my focus is currently on Don 3 and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up post that. I’m also doing two films next year before we get into Don 3, as an actor. In January, I will start a film which is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It’s being directed by RS Prasanna, who directed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He’s a great director. Then I will do another film for Excel Entertainment, which will start roughly in June or July. And then I get into directing Don 3,” said Farhan.
Farhan Akhtar On Ranveer Singh Playing New Don In Don 3
Don 3, the third installment of the action-thriller franchise that began with the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 classic Don, has been in the pipeline for a long time. Fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of Shah Rukh Khan as the charismatic and elusive criminal mastermind Don, who has been on the run from the law in 11 countries.
However, Akhtar surprised everyone by announcing that Ranveer Singh will be taking over from Shah Rukh Khan as the new Don in the upcoming film. He shared the first teaser of Don 3 on August 9, 2021, which showed Ranveer Singh in a hooded jacket and a cigarette, delivering the iconic dialogue: “Tum toh hai jaante jo mera naam hai. 11 mulkon ki police dhoondti hai mujhe, par pakad paaya hai mujhko kaun? Main hoon Don.”

On this, Farhan said that Ranveer has proved himself to be a great and versatile actor, which is why he isn’t worried about his performance in the film. He faced backlash on Twitter, especially from fans of Shah Rukh Khan, who played the role of Don in the last two films.
“I’m not worried and he shouldn’t be either. I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, he’s going to give an absolutely slamming performance in the film. It’s natural for people to react in this way. In 2006, everybody said ‘How can you touch Mr Bachchan’s Don?’ and how would Shah Rukh play the role. So, it’s understandable,” said Farhan.
Jee Le Zaraa With Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif
Jee Le Zaraa is another upcoming film by Farhan Akhtar, it is a road-trip drama that revolves around three female protagonists, played by Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif. The film was announced on August 10, 2021, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Dil Chahta Hai, Akhtar’s directorial debut.
Jee Le Zaraa was slated to go on floors in September 2022; however due to date issues the project got delayed. It was also reported that Priyanka had opted out of Jee Le Zaraa due to scheduling conflicts.
However, a few days ago, Reema Kagti confirmed that Jee Le Zaraa will go on floors with the same cast, that is, Alia, Katrina and Priyanka. The film will be produced by Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby.
