Prabhas fans will have to wait longer for Fauzi. The actor’s much-talked-about period drama, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is no longer arriving on December 3, 2026, with producer Ravi Shankar confirming that the film has been pushed back. The delay was addressed publicly on September 21, 2026, and the makers are now expected to unveil a fresh release plan for 2027.
Makers Confirm Fauzi Delay
The update came during the pre-release event of Nani’s The Paradise, where Ravi Shankar spoke about the film’s revised timeline and the scale the team is aiming for. He said, “Fauzi is being pushed back a little bit, but it’s a next-level movie. You haven’t seen brother Prabhas look so grand since Baahubali. It’s a movie of that scale. However, small sorry that we are pushing it back a bit. You will cherish it for a lifetime. It’s such a massive and great movie.”
That statement instantly reframed the conversation around Fauzi. What had been positioned as one of Prabhas’ major 2026 releases is now shaping up as a larger 2027 event, with the production clearly choosing more time over a rushed finish.
Why Fauzi Has Drawn So Much Attention
The film has been generating strong curiosity ever since it was announced, largely because it brings Prabhas back into the space of a large-format period saga. Set in pre-Independence India, Fauzi stars Prabhas in a story mounted on an expansive canvas and features Imanvi as the female lead, alongside Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Bhanu Chander and Jayapradha in key roles.
The project is backed by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, a filmmaker known for blending romance, emotion and period detail with strong visual design. The film has also been described as a two-part story, signalling that its world-building ambition is bigger than a standard one-film release.
Earlier this year, after images from the film surfaced online, Hanu had appealed to audiences not to share leaked material. He wrote, “We’ve poured our hearts into #Fauzi to give you something truly special. Humbly requesting everyone, please don’t spoil the magic with leaks. Let’s experience it the way it’s meant to be… together in theatres.”
Prabhas’ Recent And Upcoming Work
Prabhas was last seen in a cameo appearance in Kannappa in 2025, and his most recent full-length theatrical release remains Kalki 2898 AD from 2024, which strengthened his standing in pan-Indian event cinema. His 2023 release Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire also performed as a major commercial success and reinforced his pull in large-scale action spectacles.
Looking ahead, Prabhas has a packed lineup. The RajaSaab is listed for 2026, while Spirit is slated for 2027. He is also attached to Kalki 2 and Salaar 2, both of which remain among his biggest confirmed upcoming theatrical projects. With Fauzi now moving further down the calendar, the reshuffle only adds to the anticipation around how his next phase on the big screen will unfold.
