Kantara fame Rishab Shetty is set to play the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his next big project. The actor’s first look as the Maratha warrior has stunned fans and sparked excitement about the film.
The film, titled The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, will be directed by Sandeep Singh. It’s scheduled for release on January 21, 2027, just in time for the Republic Day weekend.
Rishab Shetty Shares 1st Look & Release Date Of His Biographical Drama
The actor announced the film with a first-look poster and release date on social media. He wrote, “Our Honour & Privilege, Presenting the Epic Saga of India’s Greatest Warrior King – The Pride of Bharat: #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj #ThePrideOfBharatChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj”

This movie is set to release in multiple languages and is backed by a skilled international team of technicians. It promises to bring Shivaji Maharaj’s story to the big screen in a fresh and ambitious way.
Rishab Shetty’s Upcoming Projects
Shetty has been busy with several projects. He has signed up for his Telugu debut in the much-awaited film Jai Hanuman, where he will play Lord Hanuman. His acting in this film is expected to introduce him to a wider audience.
Additionally, Shetty is working on the prequel to his hit Kantara. Kantara: Chapter 1 will be released on October 2, 2025, in multiple languages like English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. Details of the plot are still under wraps.
Besides this, Shetty is also part of a major Telugu film produced by Sithara Entertainments, directed by Ashwin Gangaraju, known for Aakashavani.
