After the success of Kantara in 2022, Rishab Shetty and Hombale Films are back with Kantara Chapter 1, a much-awaited prequel. The original film captivated audiences with its deep dive into the Bhoota Kola festival. It earned numerous accolades, including a prestigious national award.
Now, Kantara Chapter 1 promises to take viewers on an unforgettable journey into the ancient Kadamba period, set in Karnataka.
Kantara Part 1 To Bring Ancient Kadamba Empire To Life
The Kadamba dynasty, which once ruled large parts of Karnataka, had a significant impact on the region’s culture and architecture. Kantara Chapter 1 aims to bring this powerful history to life. It will showcase the grandeur of the Kadamba era, which spanned from 301-400 AD.
The film will highlight the splendour and rich cultural influence of this golden age in South India. To ensure authenticity, the filmmakers went to great lengths. They initially searched for a massive set but couldn’t find anything that met their vision.
As a result, they built their own vast studio in Kundapur, covering acres of land. This ambitious project is all about recreating the magnificence of the Kadamba period, from its architecture to the cultural traditions of the time.
The prequel will delve into the events that shaped the story of Kantara, exploring what happened before the original film. It’s not just a continuation but an expansion of the world viewers loved & offers new insights into the past.
Mohanlal To Play Rishab Shetty’s Father In Kantara Chapter 1?
Although the full cast details remain under wraps, there are rumours that Malayalam star Mohanlal has been cast in a key role. It’s said that he will play the father of Rishab Shetty’s character, adding even more star power to the film. Some sequences were shot in April, and excitement is building as the project moves forward.
With a budget of Rs. 150 crore, Kantara Chapter 1 is set to be a visual spectacle. The music is being composed by Ajaneesh Loknath and the cinematography has been handled by Aravind Kashyap.
